Seeing at the Nanoscale VII
A special thanks to all this year's presenters and attendees at the Seeing at the Nanoscale VII conference in Santa Barbara, CA. This year's conference, co-sponsored by Veeco and the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) gave researchers an important, high-quality, SPM-centric platform to communicate and promote their latest work. Featuring nearly 30 oral presentations, over 50 posters and upwards of 150 attendees during the 30-day conference, the conference featured a keynote by Nobel Laureate Alan Heeger.
This year's 5 session/poster topics highlighted some of the hottest AFM research areas, and allowed nearly 80 researchers to publicly present their work in the areas of:
The conference also included pre-conference workshops at Veeco's Santa Barbara facility offering in-depth training in three topical areas:
Attendees also enjoyed a guided tour of the CNSI Santa Barbara facility, a great beach barbeque, and additional networking time with Veeco's technical staff.
Veeco Labs HarmoniX Advanced Applications Roundtable
The first annual Veeco Labs awards were acknowledged in a special ceremony, and a group of the winners came to Veeco headquarters afterwards for a half-day roundtable discussion centered on HarmoniX applications and the work they were doing.
Nearly 20 additional Veeco technical staff attended the roundtable to hear about the latest research and to discuss the use of HarmoniX mode in a variety of challenging applications. After a brief presentation by each visiting researcher, a forum discussion was held covering the best ways to use HarmoniX and suggesting ways to advance and improve it in both air and fluids. A subsequent lab session on a new Dimension Icon allowed the group to run a few samples and learn more about both HarmoniX and the Icon.
